Thursday, October 24th, 11 of our Marietta students participated in the Southeast All-District Honor Choir in Durant at the Montgomery Auditorium at SOSU. We had 4 students receive medals: 6 year medal for participation and acceptance through 7-12 grades were Ace Austin and Eva Bucher. 3 year medal from 10-12 grades was Alexis Creasman and 3 year medal from 7-9th grades was Claire McGehee. These students went through a rigorous audition process on September where they were chosen out of the Southeastern are to represent the Honor Choir. There were two honor choirs, the Jr High Choir grades 7-9th conducted by Myles Simpson and included the songs High Flight, Christus Factus Est, Why Not and Heartbeat and the High School Choir grades 10-12th conducted by Tiffany McGrew and included the songs The Music of Stillness, Hold Fast to Dreams, Venite Gaudete and Tshela Moya/Ke nna yo Morena. The music performed is the audition music for the upcoming All-State Honor Choir audition, which will take place on Saturday, November 2nd, in Ada, Ok., at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at ECU. Marietta has 22 Students who will be auditioning for the All-State Honor Choirs.
