Powerlifting

Marietta High School Indians and Lady Indians competed on January 20 at Plainview High School’s powerlifting meet and showed their coaches – and their community – that the rest of the season could be a really good one.

Head Coach Alex Doby and Assistant Coach Ryan Keeton expected good things from their teams after a successful season last year, and they were not disappointed at the Plainview meet.

In the small school category, the Indians took first place with Edward Hill, Titus Higle, Draden Reynolds, and Kaden Dudley all taking first place in their weight classes. Jared Kaminski finished second, Aldo Salazar third, and Joan Vega fourth at the meet, while Ladd Beasley took fifth in his weight class.

The Lady Indians finished second overall, helped along by Crystal Castaneda and Melanie Ortiz taking firsts in their weight class, Tanasia Randle and Haley Wilkerson placing second, and CeCe Chiffer, Nellye Flores, and Graicee Hicks placing third in their weight classes.
