FCCLA

Marietta FCCLA members Madi Michael, Jayli Sampson, Andrew Perkins, Izabella Fernandez, Emma Gore, Ryli Wilkinson and Abigail Santibanez participated in the 2022 Oklahoma FCCLA Take AIM Conference, held October 6 at the Moore-Norman Technology Center in Moore.

Take AIM stands for Active and Involved members and is open to younger FCCLA members, encouraging them to get involved in the organization, chapter, and community.

Leadership and team building activities helped members see that they too can get involved and become an outstanding leader.

“My favorite thing at Take AIM was getting to meet new people and make new friends,”Fernandez remarked. “I learned a lot of new things that I can take everywhere I go!”

At the conference, students learned about various topics such as team building, communication, and prioritizing responsibilities.

Chapter advisers had the opportunity to create bags for “Sew Powerful” an outreach project, with sewing machines loaned from the Stitching Post. They also participated in knife skills and culinary sessions led by Chef Bill Leib.

Oklahoma FCCLA serves approximately 14,000 members in 400 chapters in both junior and senior high schools and on technology center campuses. Known as the “Ultimate Leadership Experience,” participation in FCCLA national programs, competitive events, and chapter activities helps members gain skills for life and become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities.

“The best thing about the conference was that it opened my eyes and showed me how great FCCLA is,” said Sampson. “The keynote speaker helped me see what’s important in life.”
