The National Honor Society Chapter at Marietta High School installed new members on Sunday, April 24 in the school auditorium.

Newly installed members include seniors: Alondra Baez De Jesus, Yoselin Barrientos, Rosio Castellanos, Noah McMillin, Darianis Olmo-Pagan, Hunter Roe, Jesus Venegas, and Antonio Vidana. Junior members added were Macie Argo, Jessica Bates, Kaden Dudley, Sergio Gomez, Zippora Hill, Ian Maldonado, Brandy Palomino, Katy Smee, and Avigail Venegas.

Sophomores installed were Rebekah Alberda, Tianna Aldava, Jacee Arthur, Amanda Baez De Jesus, Keagan Balch, Daisy Barrientos, Emma Barrientos, Uriel Barrientos, Gabby Carlton, Crystal Castaneda, Samantha Cooper, Kaiya Douglass, Miranda Ducharme, Amanda Flores, Jose Garcia, Andrea Gomez, Rian Gray, Jaylynn Hartman, Graicee Hicks, Mina Hughes, Ashlyn Lucas, Kaylen Manuel, Jordyn Metcalf, Kaelin Miller, Abigay Miranda, Melanie Ortiz, Ashley Perez, Axel Pierce, Honesti Rambo, Yomara Salas, Yesenia Salazar, Yadira Sanchez, Rachel Smee, Jayme Tidwell, and Rocky Valenzuela.

Induction to NHS is by invitation only. To be invited, a students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 after three semesters of high school and obtain faculty references based on character, scholarship, leadership, and service. An anonymous five-member faculty council votes on each member, and a student must receive a majority before being issued an invitation to join.

Marietta’s NHS Chapter is advised by Scott Anderson and Pamela Higle. 2021-22 NHS officers are President Aldan Gallaway, Vice-President Kodi Durst, and Secretary-Treasurer Kadence Bazor.

“We have an incredible group of students who work hard to serve our campus and community,” said Higle.

The chapter recently operated a fundraiser and donated $1,200 to the middle/high school food pantry.

“We’re proud of our NHS students, especially our senior standing members, who led the entire ceremony,” Higle remarked.

Higle also expressed gratitude to FCCLA advisor Amanda Faulkenberry and FCCLA underclassmen Emily Faulkenberry, Olivia Rutledge, Marshal Mansfield, and Kaitlin Harris, who served cake and punch after the induction ceremony and thanked Jeremy Higle, Ashley Martin, Yearbook Advisor Lindsey Ramon and staff, Maintenance Director Jeral Berry team and his team, Superintendent Brandi Naylor, Sharon Manley, Cafeteria Director Wendy Birks, High School Principal Adam Sherfield, Assistant High School Principal Ron Norman, Technology Director Nate Jackson, Becky Jones, Jenna Phipps, Erin Hansen, Olivia Carmona, and High School Secretary Micaela Sanchez for their help with the induction.
