Marietta cross country runners from Pre-K through fifth grade have finished their season, and it was a good one.
“We had a lot of great little runners this season,” said Coach Tanica Anderson. “Every meet we entered, we had several kids receive medals.”
Anderson went on to explain that running a mile is a tough feat for an elementary student, but her runners were tough enough to get it done.
“Our third and fourth grade girls’ group was a powerhouse and dominated every meet,” she continued, “and our third and fourth grade boys were also a good group and competed well. Our last meet was the SOTC Championship meet, and we come home with four plaques.”
The third and fourth grade girls were champions, third and fourth grade boys were runners-up, and the first and second grade girls’ and boys’ teams were both runners-up.
“There’s a lot of potential with our Little Indians,” added Anderson, “and I think we’ll be seeing several of them on our junior high and high school teams in the future.”
