Amanda Faulkenberry, the Oklahoma Association of Family and Consumer Sciences
President and Family and Consumer Sciences educator at Marietta High School,
participated in the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education
Leadership Conference held recently in Durant.
The conference gave OATFCS officers from across the state a chance to develop
leadership skills, network with other CareerTech professionals, and represent Family
and Consumer Sciences education.
The conference brought together CareerTech educators, administrators, and leaders
from across Oklahoma for professional development, collaboration, networking, and
leadership training. OATFCS officers used the opportunity to strengthen their leadership
skills while representing Family and Consumer Sciences education statewide.
Throughout the three-day event, OATFCS officers attended leadership sessions
designed to build effective communication, teamwork, advocacy, and organizational
leadership skills. The conference also provided opportunities to connect with other
CareerTech professionals and share ideas that can strengthen Career and Technology
Education programs across Oklahoma.
“Professional development and leadership opportunities like OKACTE Leadership allow
our officers to grow as leaders while bringing new ideas and energy back to Family and
Consumer Sciences education,” said Faulkenberry. “We are proud to represent
OATFCS and advocate for the important role FCS educators play in preparing
Oklahoma students for college, careers, and life.”
OATFCS officers' participation in the OKACTE Leadership Conference demonstrates
the organization’s commitment to developing strong leaders and supporting educators
throughout Oklahoma. As active members of Oklahoma’s CareerTech system, OATFCS
leaders continue to advocate for Family and Consumer Sciences education and the
valuable skills it provides to students, families, and communities.
