After winning at local and state levels, Marietta High School student Franchesca
Veracierta has progressed to the national level in an annual poster contest.
Each year, the Love County Conservation District sponsors the Oklahoma Association
of Conservation District’s Annual Poster Contest. Students in all Love County Schools
are encouraged to participate in the contest.
Marietta High School Art Instructor, Courteney Starsick Anderson encourages her
students to participate, and in past years several Marietta students have shown off their
talent at the local level, winning honors there.
Students who win at the local county level progress to the area level, and, if successful
there, to the state level.
Veracierta placed first at the local level, then progressed to the area level and then the
state level, placing first at those levels also.
Now Veracierta, along with four other state winners, has an entry in the National
Association of Conservation District’s Poster contest, which will be held at a later date.
The Love County Conservation District would like to thank the following partners for
their help in coordinating the contest: Courteney Starsick-Anderson and Bonnie
Petersen from Marietta Public Schools, the staff of the Farm Service Agency in Love
County, Jennefer Rojas at Noble County Conservation District, The Oklahoma
Conservation Commission, and the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts.
“Franchesca is to be congratulated and commended,” said Starsick-Anderson. “She is a
very talented young lady, but she also works hard and I’m very proud of her.”
