Marietta Superintendent Brandi Naylor was honored recently by the Organization of Rural Oklahoma Schools at their fall conference, held October 23 and 24 at the Grand Convention Center in Shawnee.
Naylor was recognized for her leadership and response following the tornado that devastated Marietta in April 2024.
The storm destroyed a large portion of the district’s tax base, leading to a loss of jobs and student enrollment and creating a multi-faceted financial challenge for the school district.
Despite the personal and financial hardships that were a result of the tornado, the district worked together to ensure that students continued to receive a high-quality education, and that the school’s staff, students, and their families were supported throughout the recovery efforts.
“The recognition from OROS honors not only my role, but also the resilience and dedication of our entire school community during one of the most difficult times we’ve faced,” said Naylor. “I’m forever proud to be a Marietta Indian and to be able to represent our school.”
