Marietta Public Schools’ much-anticipated new parking lot between the auditorium and middle/high school facility opened for use on Monday, October 27.

In order to ensure a smooth procedure for the drop-off and pick-up of students, school administrators have released some information to help parents and guardians:

  •  All middle and high school student drop-offs and pick-ups must take place in the

designated area on the north side of the new building (highlighted in red on the

    graphic).

  •  All traffic should enter and exit following the yellow arrows shown on the map, creating

a one-way traffic flow that will keep vehicles moving safely and

    efficiently.

  •  Those who are dropping off or picking up students are asked not to stop or park

in the drop-off/pick-up lane for any extended periods of time.

  •  Those who need to come inside the building are asked to park in one of the

  • designated parking areas and come in or use the loop on in front of the building.

  •  Pick-ups and drop-offs on Gilliam Street will no longer be allowed to improve

student safety and reduce congestion on Gilliam Street.

  •  There are no changes to drop-off or pick-up locations for students who ride

    buses.

On the graphic, staff parking is highlighted in green (north side of the building closest to the gym/commons area entrance. Senior student parking is the purple area (the front right section closest to the highway and building. Student parking, the blue area, is the back, right section closest to the highway and auditorium.

Overflow/event parking will be on the east side of the parking lot and is marked in gray on the graphic.

All students and staff will enter and exit the building at the gym/commons north entrance.

“We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we adjust to this new traffic pattern,” said Superintendent Brandi Naylor. “Our goal is to make arrival and dismissal as safe and efficient as possible for everyone so if changes to this plan are necessary, parents and guardians will be notified.”

Parents/guardians with questions are asked to contact the school office at (580) 276- 9444 with questions, or email the site office of their child’s principal.
