Little Indian cross country runners have finished a seven-meet season, running at
Plainview, Madill, Dickson, Ardmore, Lone Grove, Marietta, and the SOTC
Championship Meet, the only meet where elementary students can place as a team.
“Our elementary cross country runners have had a fantastic season!” said Coach Tanica
Anderson. “Their hard work, determination, and team spirit really shined through.”
This year, the third and fourth grade boys’ team and the fifth grade girls’ team were
runners-up at the championship meet. The successful season has made Anderson
excited about the future of the junior high and high school programs.
“The third and fourth grade boys are a good group, super competitive,” Anderson
remarked. “Marcus Faberlle, Arturo Barcenas, David Bruce, and Angel Garcia have
been some of my top runners all season long, and Sebastian Aldaba and Jameson
Testerman are close behind.”
Anderson also commented on Nicholas Jackson, Ellisyn Aguilar, and Ruby Fermin as
three runners whose determination has led to great improvements – along with several
medals – this season.
Coach Anderson gave a special shout-out to the kindergarten and below group of
runners.
“In the beginning, they were not really up for it,” she smiled, “but by the end of the
season, they were rockstars and running nonstop!”
Anderson expressed her pride in the entire team, especially the amount of progress
they made.
“It’s inspiring to see these young athletes grow stronger with every race,” she said.
“Little runners practice and compete in the heat, but they continue to power through it.
This is a great group and their future looks bright.”
