Dania Vazquez-Morones, Allie Jackson, Liliana Fernandez, and Bella Faulkenberry
represented the Marietta High School FCCLA Chapter at the 27 th Oklahoma FCCLA
Summer Leadership Summit at Oakridge Camp in Anadarko.
More than 70 FCCLA members from across Oklahoma attended the two-day leadership
camp, designed to engage members in interactive, fun-filled, high energy activities
focused on bettering their leadership, teamwork, and servant leadership.
“My favorite things about SLS were leading and coming together as a team,” said
Jackson. “For a while on the first day, we didn’t know how to be a team because we’d
just met, but then we started our activities, and before long, we were close and working
together. SLS is definitely my favorite FCCLA activity so far.”
Other members enjoyed the activities and games, but the opportunity to meet new
people and make new friends.
“SLS was my first official FCCLA activity as a member, and I loved getting to make my
own friends in FCCLA and begin learning what I can do in FCCLA to be successful,”
remarked Bella Faulkenberry.
Amanda Faulkenberry, the chapter’s advisor, was also present, and stated that the
camp is a great opportunity for members to learn more about leadership and how they
can use that skill in FCCLA and in life.
“This year as an Oklahoma FCCLA Alumni and Associates Grant-a-Wish recipient, our
chapter was able to offer one full camp fee, and two campers were able to go for half
price,” she said. “We are so thankful to the Oklahoma Alumni and Associates for
investing in FCCLA chapters across the state in so many different ways.”
