The Lake Country Conference track meet was held on April 26 at McClain Stadium.
“Due to the weather, we started the meet a little later than usual, and even with the late start had a 45 minute delay, but everything went smoothly,” said Tanica Anderson, Athletic Director for Marietta Public Schools. “We had a great turnout and great competition at the meet.”
Several Indian and Lady Indian runners placed in the meet. In the junior high girls’ division, Cielo Salas placed first in the 800 meter and first in the 1600 meter races. Xaia Stark placed fifth in the 800 meters. Joselynn Rodriguez was the fifth place runner in the 200 meter race. Bella Whitfield placed fifth in the long jump. The 4 x 8 relay team of Capri Finch, Xaia Stark, Allie Bruce, and Cielo Salas finished in sixth place.
In the junior high boys’ division, Jackson Banta was second in the discus and Caisten McCarroll finished third in the 100 meters and second in shot put. Leighton Phillips was sixth in the 400 meters. The 4 x 100 relay team of Ivan Sanchez, Alex Aldaba, Antonio Aldaba, and Caisten McCarroll finished in sixth place and the 4 X 200 relay team of Ivan Sanchez, Karter Futch, Leighton Phillips, and Alex Aldaba finished in fifth place.
In the high school girls’ division, Dovie Banta was the third place runner in the 400 meters and finished in fourth place in long jump. Lexus Spanhanks was sixth in the 200 meter race. Abigail Garcia was the sixth place finisher in the pole vault. Dovie Banta, Abigail Garcia, Audriana Rodriguez, and Lexus Spanhanks finished in sixth place in the 4 X 200 meter relay, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Liliana Fernandez, Dovie Banta, Lexus Spanhanks, and Abigail Garcia finished fourth.
In the high school boys’ division, Luis Garcia was the fifth place runner in the 3200 meter race and Tripp Presley finished fourth in the 800 meters.

Anderson also expressed appreciation for all the food that was brought for the hospitality room.
“Hosting a meet like this is a lot of work,” she said, “and we were very fortunate to have plenty of sponsors and volunteers to help us make it a success.”
Schools participating in the meet were Madill, Byng, Plainview, Sulphur, Dickson, Lone Grove, Kingston, and Marietta.
