Seven members of the Marietta High School Show Choir, under the direction of Courteney Starsick-Anderson, performed in the Southeastern Chorvettes’ Honor Show Choir Festival, held on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant on March 26.

The group spent two days participating in workshops before performing in a final show. Attending from Marietta were Alexis Creasman, Rebekah Alberda, Haylen Lowery, Ace Austin, Cynthia Lopez, Kamarah Bertrand and Eva Bucher.

This year’s festival celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Southeastern Chorvettes, and the MHS students were privileged to perform with two MHS graduates who are now members of the Chorvettes group, Colours Starsick and Tanasia Randle. Starsick-Anderson has been the high school director for nine years, and the MHS Show Choir has participated in the festival all nine of those years.

“I participated in the festival as a high school student, so it has always been a special time for me,” she said. “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication of my students, and it was awesome to see our current students working with former students who are now in college and can share experiences with them. Several of our students have expressed interest in joining Chorvettes and attending Southeastern, which I love because it is also my college alma mater.”
