FCCLA

Marietta FCCLA members have competed in District and Regional STAR Events and are now advancing to the State Competition to be held on March 27 and 28 in Stillwater.  This year, 11 members will be competing, the most in several years.

Eighth grade students competing in Level 1 events are Dania Vanquez Morones in Cake Decorating, Aycee Dudley in Children's Literature, and Alyson Muller in Job Interview.

Level 2 events include Madi Michael and Jayli Sampson in Promote and Publicize, Addison Jackson in Meat Identification, and Trinnity Mantzke in Work Ready Childcare Teacher’s Aide.

Marietta students in Level 3 events are Olivia Rutledge, Kaitlin Harris, and Alina Fernandez in Chapter Service Project Display and Emily Faulkenberry in Teaching Strategies.

STAR Events are competitive events that take the skills students learn in Family and Consumer Sciences classes and put them into action through different projects and events.

“STAR Events give the opportunity for students to do projects that relate back to FACS skills we have learned,” stated Madi Michael, “and they make learning more fun.”

There are more than 30 events that members can compete in.

"STAR Events are a great opportunity for students to step outside of their comfort zones, work on public speaking skills and advance their leadership skills,” said Advisor Amanda Faulkenberry. “Members invest a lot of work in preparing their projects. They have done an amazing job, and I am very proud of them."

Many STAR events help FCCLA members prepare for future career placement.

Marietta’s FACS classes wish to thank their school administration, Flanagan Construction, and Marietta Tag Agency for their support in sending members to compete.
