Marietta Speech and Debate students, along with Coach Alicia Harris traveled to compete in the Comanche Speech Tournament held on January 27.
Several students placed, including Ace Austin, second in 4A Humorous Interpretation; Dovan Bucher, second in 4A Monologue; Bethany Gerlach, second in FA Dramatic Interpretation; Delaney Aust, third in FA Dramatic Interpretation and 4A Monologue finalist; Alexis Doby, fourth in 4A Monologue; Andrew Perkins, 4A Monologue finalist; and Bella Faulkenberry, fourth in Novice Prose.
Kyle Austin and Kelsi Lawson competed in 4A Prose and 4A Poetry, respectively. Additionally, Austin, Bucher, Gerlach, and Aust qualified for the regional tournament to be held in March.
“This was the first tournament for each of these students,” said Harris. “I’m very proud of their hard work, dedication, and bravery.” The team’s next tournament is February 10 at Rush Springs.
