During a special board meeting held on Tuesday, May 21 at noon, Marietta’s Board of Education accepted a resignation and hired three new staff members.

After the meeting was called to order, the first item on the agenda was to accept the resignation of Keith Hendrix. Earlier in the year, Hendrix had accepted the position of high school football coach, but later changed his mind and last week tendered his resignation.

The board then voted to enter into executive session. After returning to open session, they approved the hiring of David Garza as head coach for football and powerlifting and U.S. history teacher, Jake Patterson as the head baseball coach and high school teacher, and Mary Lemons as a primary teacher.
