Marietta High School held its annual Senior Scholarship Awards Assembly on Monday night, May 22. By the evening’s end, thousands of dollars in scholarships had been awarded to deserving students.

Dollar Tree Scholarships were awarded to Cade Scarbrough, Maverick Mansfield, and Aldo Salazar.

The Brewster Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually by the Brewster family in honor of their children, Kecia and Kent, who were Marietta Public Schools students at the time of their tragic death. This year’s scholarships went to Titus Higle, Wyatt Vinson, Aldo Salazar, Savannah Lemons, and Anabel Ulloa.

The Charles A. Sewell Memorial Scholarship went to Maverick Mansfield. Madysen Hicks, Tanasia Randle, and Avigail Venegas were recipients of the Hailey Logsdon Memorial Scholarship. The Jordan Insurance Group Scholarship was awarded to Avigail Venegas and Emily Briggs.

For many years, Coca-Cola has faithfully awarded two scholarships to Marietta students, one for athletics and one for academics. This year, Aldo Salazar received the athletic scholarship while Carlea Pritchard received the scholastic scholarship.

Winners of the Marietta High School Alumni Scholarships were Lillian Blevins and Anabel Ulloa.

This year, the Masonic Lodge of Lone Grove awarded four scholarships. Those winners were Savannah Lemons, Kora Humble, Cade Scarbrough, and Reagan Denham. Raigan Prather received the scholarship from the Elks Lodge of Ardmore.

The winner of the Marietta Chamber of Commerce’s Leading to Serve Scholarship was Lilliam Blevins.

Ashley Rains was a Marietta High School graduate who lost her life to cancer shortly after her high school graduation. A scholarship was endowed in her name and is annually awarded to MHS graduates, with preference to those seeking degrees in nursing. This year’s winners were Maverick Mansfield and Shyanne Lawson.

Vestel Bennet dedicated many years of his life to the profession of education at Marietta Public Schools. In his honor, his family awards annual scholarships. This year, those awarded were Cade Scarbrough and Kora Humble.

The Southeastern Oklahoma State University President’s Leadership Scholarship recipients were Colours Starsick, Savannah Lemons, and Tanasia Randle. Starsick also received Southeastern’s Chorvette’s Scholarship, a vocal music scholarship, and a band scholarship, all from the music department.

Cade Scarbrough, Tanasia Randle, Aldo Salazar, and Tiara Stults received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship awards. Ladies of Action Scholarships were awarded to Tanasia Randle and Tiara Stults.

Barbara Sessions of the OU Club of Love County present OU Club scholarships to future University of Oklahoma Students Kora Humble, Shyanne Lawson, and Emily Briggs.

Maverick Mansfield received the American National Bank Scholarship and the First National Bank Scholarship.

The JC Auto Parts Scholarship went to Avigail Venegas.

Cade Scarbrough received the Oklahoma State University Academic Excellence and Cowboy Covenant Scholarships, along with the Clerico Family Foundation Scholarship. Additionally, Scarbrough is the recipient of the Arthur and Kay Rickets Scholarship, established by the Rickets family to honor Marietta High School graduates who chose to further their education at Oklahoma State University.

Tiara Stults, Mackenzie Kyle, Aldo Salazar, Raigan Prather, and Maverick McClendon all received academic scholarships from the University of Central Oklahoma, where they will continue their education in the fall.

Recipients of Marietta FFA chapter scholarships were Cade Scarbrough, Avigail Venegas, and Wyatt Gwin.

Lastly, Kaden Dudley received the East Central University Academic Excellence Scholarship.

“We are happy that our students are seeing years of their hard work rewarded with these scholarships,” said Marietta High School Counselor Tonya Bucher, “and we are so grateful to be in a community that is willing to be a big part of helping our students recognize their dreams of going to college.”
