Faulkenberry

Marietta High School sophomore FCCLA member Emily Faulkenberry has advanced to competition at the National Leadership Conference, to be held in Denver, Colorado July 1 through 7.

February 6, Faulkenberry began her journey at the Regional STAR Events, held in Prague, in the Teach or Train Level 2 event.

But long before February, Faulkenberry started with observation in the classroom of Mrs. Heather Cummings, career kindergarten teacher in Marietta Primary School. After her observations, Faulkenberry prepared two lessons and taught one to Mrs. Cummings’s class.

She also did research on careers in education in Oklahoma. Faulkenberry presented all her information, along with the lessons she prepared, at the Regional STAR Events.

After winning at regional events, Faulkenberry was headed to the State STAR Events, which were held on March 22 and 23. Faulkenberry was named State Runner-up at the 77th Annual FCCLA State Convention, held on April 6, which entitles her to advance to the national competition this summer.

Faulkenberry, the daughter of Bobby and Amanda Faulkenberry, has been active in FCCLA since middle school. She plans to earn a college degree in early childhood education and become a teacher.
